The book Aida recounts the life story of Aida Sorour, mother of Ali Ismail, a member of Hezbollah in Lebanon. The narrative begins with her childhood passion for the hijab and religious activities, despite her mother’s strong opposition. As she grew up, she joined Hezbollah and married one of its members. She had three children, one of whom—Ali—possessed spiritual visions and special blessings at the age of seventeen before attaining martyrdom. One of his noted blessings, as mentioned in the book’s introduction, was the fragrance that spread from his blood after being shot on the northern peak.
