Deputy for Cultural Affairs of the Islamic Development Organization announced

70% of Attendees Were Youth and Adolescents

The Deputy for Cultural Affairs and Provincial Affairs of the Islamic Development Organization reported that over 1,331,000 people attended the 1404 nationwide I'tikaf ceremony.

70% of Attendees Were Youth and Adolescents

Hojjatoleslam Reza Ezzatzamani stated that over 12,140 mosques across the country hosted I’tikaf participants this year. Estimates indicate that, as in previous years, more than 70% of attendees were youth and adolescents.

The Deputy highlighted that despite all the problems and media pressures from enemies targeting young people, there was a 6% increase in participation this year, and thanks should be given to God for such engagement of young people nationwide.

Hojjatoleslam Ezzatzamani emphasized that I’tikaf is an example of inner, heartfelt devotion. In an era where media mainly encourages superficial and external matters and religious avoidance, increasing participation in this spiritual practice carries significant meaning and should be seriously considered by analysts and sociologists.

He also noted that in recent years, special content has been designed for young male and female participants, such as student I’tikaf, mother-child I’tikaf, and more. This year, the main highlight was the “Haalat-e Parvaaz” event, which included content and discussion circles on Quranic concepts, their relation to resistance, and their extension beyond Iran’s borders. It was widely welcomed and is planned to continue until next year’s I’tikaf.

According to statistics published by the Islamic Development Organization in 1403, 1,250,000 people participated in 8,700 mosques nationwide.
